Epoxy Coating

Epoxy coating is a widely used method to protect mild steel (MS) pipes from corrosion, chemical exposure, and environmental damage. This coating forms a durable, impermeable barrier that enhances the longevity and performance of the pipes. Epoxy coatings are particularly beneficial for pipelines carrying potable water, industrial chemicals, and oil and gas. Additionally, they provide excellent resistance to UV exposure and high temperatures, making them ideal for various applications.

Manufacturing Process:

The epoxy coating process begins with surface preparation, ensuring the pipe is clean and free of contaminants for optimal adhesion. A liquid epoxy resin system is then applied, either internally or externally, depending on the intended use. Different application techniques, such as spray or brush coating, ensure uniform coverage. Once applied, the coating undergoes a curing process that enhances its protective properties, providing superior resistance against corrosion, abrasion, and chemical exposure.

Types of Coating

  • Coal Tar Epoxy – A two-part liquid epoxy system, typically applied in a single coat.
  • Solvent-Free Epoxy – Applied to the internal surfaces of MS pipes for enhanced protection.
  • Solvent-Free PU Coating – Used for external surfaces to shield against environmental factors.
